Portrait of the Prussian prince Georg Friedrich I, margrave von Brandenburg-Ansbach (1539−1603)

unknown author, 3rd quarter of the 17th century

oil on canvas, period frame (in 1909 cleaned and duplicated by A. Fahlberg)

dimensions: 216 x 168 cm

Origin: Löbenicht; from 1830 in Malbork (Great Commandery at the Middle Castle)

We do not have any iconographic message about this painting. Bernhard Schmid informs that the image of the prince brought to Malbork in 1830 could only be identified on the basis of a comparison with the engraving of the German engraver Lucas Kilian (1579-1637) depicting margrave Ansbach. After conservation in 1909, until the Second World War, was stored in the premises of the Grand Commandery in the Middle Castle.
